Your nearest neighbours will be about 2 miles away, and there is no telephone to ring and disturb you. (Mobile phones work very well, but you'll have to walk to the top of the hill to get reception.)
The house has been completely modernised and refurbished using modern materials, to provide a large and comfortable holiday home. Easily accommodating 8 people, you will find staying here snug and comfortable even in the middle of winter, with warm wood fires, and in the warmer months there are many miles of woodland, hills and rivers to enjoy.
All heating and hot water is provided by an efficient, modern wood burning stove in the main family room. Being so remote, Fairhaugh has no electricity or generator. This idiosyncrasy is more than compensated for by the modern gas lamps that have been installed in all the rooms. Cooking facilities are provided by a modern gas cooker and there is a full sized, and yes, gas powered, fridge.
Accommodation comprises 2 large double bedrooms, and 1 larger dormitory bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds. Each bedroom has a wash basin, and is comfortably furnished with a mixture of antiques and modern furniture.
Downstairs, there is a large separate sitting room, a second combined dining/family room, and a large kitchen with walk-in larder/ storage room. The kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons, but no electric gadgets of course. All the water for the house is supplied from our own mountain spring set within the estate.
